A full-grown African Lion, named "Jupiter," hugs and kisses his rescuer at her private reserve in Cali, Columbia. Ana Julia Torres rescued the big cat from a traveling circus about 6 years ago. When she got him, the big fella was starving, abused, and injured. Nowadays, he is a happy kitty. Torres' reserve is located on private property.......where she nurses injured animals back to health. There are all types of creatures that have joined the reserve over the years. Most are in cages, but some of the tamer animals (mostly birds) roam freely about the grounds, which are immaculately cared for, groomed and maintained. She has done this service for years, mostly from her modest income, plus donations from private folks. I told someone the other day that, when I saw this video (linked above), that a person doesn't really know the full spectrum of love until he or she has been LOVED by an animal. Many people think highly of them. But the kind of love I'm talking about is daily devotion and genuine animal sweetness. Ahhhhhhhh yes............!!!! Ana Julia is getting a whole lot more donations since this video hit the airwaves. I love that fact about this new technology...

I know what it is like to find a kitty kat and share a bond of love and appreciation. My present cat Dakini and I met at the humane society 8 years ago. She was starving and looked more like a ferrit then a long hair calico cat. When I brought Dakini home, I pondered to myself, she is an older cat (at least 2 when I found her), and the vet told me she lived on the streets for most of that 2 year period and probably did not trust many people. I wondered if we would share the bonding experience like all the other kittens I have adopted over the years have exeperienced. In the beginning it was all about physical love and nourishment for this beautiful being. The first 6 months she did not trust me, but I continued to love Dakini and let her know I would never abandon her (which was healing for me as well). Dakini has lived with me all over the eastern seaboard, from CT to Buffalo NY and through it all we have kept our committment to be there for each other and love each other unconditionally. In fact,recently I called a friend's radio show (You are What You Love with Vaishali) who had a pet communicator on, her name is Karen Anderson. Karen shared with me Dakini's feelings of deep gratitude and Love she feels for me and how grateful Dakini is for the life she is sharing with me. I must tell you that her message brought tears of joy to me and a warmth in my heart that I would not trade my journey with Dakini for anything!

I was sitting in front of my computer this morning thinking about all the mundane tasks that I needed to do today, feeling kinda down. As I watched/listened to this video about free hugs from YouTube, my heart was once again open and flowing with gratitude!
